Mama Shujaa is Enactus UWA’s first international endeavour and aims to provide a group of single mothers living in the Korogocho slums of Kenya with a stable source of income, through microfinance and business training. In partnership with Be Kids Australia, Enactus UWA has provided the women with start-up finance and skills training, and will provide ongoing mentoring and support,  equipping them to set up and run a café in the Lucky Summer district.

The Mama Shujaa project will provide these women with not just economic freedom, but also a sense of pride in their work, emotional support, and permanent skills which will increase the women’s employability regardless of the business’s  success.
